After the Tsunami: Human Rights of Vulnerable Populations
The EWC's Research Program joined colleagues from the Human Rights Center at the University of California Berkeley and regional partners to look into possible human rights abuses in the five most affected countries: India, Maldives, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Their findings have been jointly published in this book.
Hope for Renewal: Photographs from Indonesia after the Tsunami
A tribute to those who died in the tsunami and to those who survived it. EWC has published a large format 52-page soft-cover book with all proceeds going to the East-West Center Tsunami Relief Fund. The images by Hawai`i photographer Marco Garcia chronicle the rescue, recovery and rebuilding of communities. Adding to the experience, the book also includes a moving firsthand account of surviving the tsunami by EWC alumnus Muslahuddin Daud.
Tsunami Awareness Kit
The Kit, developed by the Pacific Disaster Center, provides information that communities and other stakeholders can use to both respond to and reduce their overall vulnerabilities to tsunamis and to develop "country specific" educational and policy relevant materials. Composed of a wide variety of resources including maps, booklets, checklists, brochures, reference materials, visualization products, and movie clips, the Kit's contents are packaged in several formats targeting Pacific Island disaster managers, as well as government and community leaders, business owners, and educators.
